We have many innovative programs which include all K-3 teachers trained in the Four Blocks Balanced Literacy Program, the STAR reading program (community volunteer program), a District Steering Committee comprised of certified and support staff, community members, administration and board of education which oversees all curriculum, curriculum mapping, School to Work/Career Pathways program, we were a pilot site for the new 8th grade Science MEAP test and a pilot site for Michigan Literacy Progress Profile, and we work in partnership with the local hospital for Occupational Health courses and the business community through the Chamber of Commerce.

Northwest Academy has educated students in Charlevoix since 1996. We are a tuition-free public school offering exemplary education in kindergarten through 12th grade. Our school is committed to excellence, illustrated by our dedicated staff, our commitment to K-12 foreign language classes, and our Beginning, Intermediate, and Advanced Band program that begins in 4th grade.

Northwest Academy's curriculum is based on the standards adopted by the State of Michigan and is held accountable for these standards via MEAP testing and the No Child Left Behind Act.

We have a dynamic program in addition to our traditional academic courses, from K-12 foreign language instruction, an award-winning band program, to our fun, family atmosphere.  Northwest Academy families are invited to participate in our program through the Friends of NWA, and parents are welcome anytime!
