Originally from Sturgis, Michigan, Mark completed his Bachelor's Degree with a major in Political Science and a minor in economics and graduated cum laude from Taylor University (Upland, Indiana). He then completed a Master of Public Administration degree concentrating in Public Management at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo. Prior to his appointment as Charlevoix City Manager in 2015, Mark served as an intern for the City Manager of the City of Sturgis (2004-2006) and as City Manager of the City of Bronson, Michigan from 2010-2015. The International City/County Management Association (ICMA) recognized Mark as Credentialed Manager in 2017; he holds membership in both the ICMA and Michigan Municipal Executives (MME).
Mark serves on the Boards of Directors of the Northern Lakes Economic Alliance and the Char/Em United Way. He also serves as a member of the Experience Committee for Michigan Municipal Executives. He previously served on the organization's Ethics Committee.
